SPOILED POOCH BOUTIQUE PET SERVICES

Hello
I'm sure you are wondering what makes us special...

I like to think of what I created as the "Middle Way" in the pet industry.
We are not a huge company like Wag or Rover with a rotating, ever changing lineup of dog walkers, however we are reliable and can be on call for last minute walks and services. We are not a one man or woman show either. Humans get sick and caregivers need time off, however we understand the beautiful relationship between pet and sitter so you will have the same caregiver the majority of the time.

We are also the middle way between tech and human touch. After the meet and greet you can use our app for everything, however you also have my cell phone number and I can resolve almost anything same day.

Finally, I am the middle woman between you and your pet sitter / dog walker. It's more comfortable for both sides to speak to a neutral party and fully disclose how they truly feel and what improvements or changes are necessary. I'm a match maker and if I did not make a good match, please allow me to opportunity to try again. Less work for you, redemption for me. If you take the time to read our reviews, you'll see I've made some beautiful decade long matches. Which brings up a great point, my company is built to last and our goal is to stay with you and your pets for as long as you need us, which hopefully, is a very long time indeed.
The majority of our team are hired as employees, rather than independent contractors. I've done both so I feel I can speak on the difference. Prior to the lawsuit of independent contractors for Uber and Lyft the majority of the pet industry hired additional hands as independent contractors. And indeed they were correctly classified for the most part, these dog walkers usually had clients of their own and carried their own insurance. In my case they were paid 60% of earnings, leaving 20% for company costs and 20% for profit. This worked well and it was difficult and costly to make the transition to employees. In my opinion changing my team to employees was well worth it and I will share why as it is one of the biggest things that sets Spoiled Pooch apart from our competitors.

Team members who are treated and taxed as employees have a safety net. They are allowed 5 paid sick days a year, mileage reimbursement at the annual rate, cell phone stipend, and most importantly workers comp. A dog walker who gets injured cannot walk and therefore cannot make a living and that is very stressful. They may even feel the need to push themselves to return to work before their body is fully healed. Employees also qualify for unemployment and disability and taxes are taken out each paycheck rather than owed at the end of the year.

Speaking on safety alone, hiring my team as employees creates a strong foundation for them to relax into and reel taken care of. The number one thing a caregiver needs is a caring boss and company who is looking out for them. With this in place they can do what they were hired to do to the best of their ability without the extra stress of being and independent contractor.

To address my opening line, I do allow a few team members to be hired on as independent contractors if it is their preference, they only assist me with overnight pet sitting or boarding (no daily dog walks etc) and they meet the criteria given by the state and country. Both IC's and Employees are fully covered by my insurance and workers comp. Team members hired on as part-time employees working 20-30 hours a week and are paid hourly, commission, bonuses, piece-rate, reimbursements and tips.
"I am only as good as my team and I aim to take great care of them. As I tell them during the training. It all starts with you. If you are content, the pets are content. If the pets are content, the clients are content. If the clients are content, I am content. So... let's keep you content." Jeanetta
